Portrait of Monsieur and Madame Edouard Manet is oil on canvas painting by the French artist Edgar Degas. It is painted in 1868-69. Degas painted his fellow-artist listening to his wife playing the piano; Mme Manet was considered a particularly gifted player of German music. Degas gave the painting to Manet; but the latter was dissatisfied with Suzanne’s face and cut the canvas accordingly. The painting is now in the collection of the Municipal Museum of Art, Kitakyushu, Japan.
